<trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>The presented Recommendations are an updated version of the Russian recommendations for the diagnosis and treatment of arterial hypertension from 2016 and foreign recommendations for the treatment of arterial hypertension of the European Society of Hypertension and the European Society of Cardiology from 2018, which, in turn, were created based on the analysis of more than 20 years of experience in large studies of different goals, protocols and volumes conducted on various aspects of the diagnosis and treatment of arterial hypertension. In addition, the sections of the Recommendations devoted to methods of blood pressure control, diagnosis and treatment of AH take into account the experience of domestic studies. The Guidelines set out the basic principles of treatment of patients with hypertension, including in a number of clinical situations that were obtained in randomized controlled trials, at the same time it is important to take into account the individual characteristics of the mechanisms of development and course of the disease, for example, salt sensitivity, secondary hyperaldosteronism in hypertension, individual sensitivity to antihypertensive drugs, which leaves the right and expediency to select antihypertensive therapy in a patient taking into account his individual characteristics.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>антигипертензивная терапия</kwd><kwd>артериальное давление</kwd><kwd>целевые значения артериального давления</kwd><kwd>измерение артериального давления</kwd><kwd>сердечно-сосудистые осложнения</kwd><kwd>сердечно-сосудистый риск</kwd><kwd>динамическое наблюдение</kwd><kwd>рекомендации</kwd><kwd>гипертония</kwd><kwd>образ жизни</kwd><kwd>поражение органов-мишеней</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front><back><ref-list><title>References</title><ref id="cit1"><label>1</label><citation-alternatives><mixed-citation xml:lang="ru">Муромцева Г.А., Концевая А.В., Константинов В.В. и др.
